Electrophysiologist joins Genesys Heart Institute team

Dr. Kenneth Steibel, president of the Genesys Regional Medical Center medical staff, announces the appointment of Dr. Matthew Ebinger, electrophysiologist, to the Genesys Heart Institute team.
Ebinger completed a fellowship in cardiovascular medicine at Wayne State University in 2003, and a fellowship in clinical cardiac electrophysiology from Henry Ford Hospital in 2005.
He comes from the University of Michigan Health System Department of Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology in Ann Arbor . For the past three years, Ebinger directed the university's satellite electrophysiology program at Crittenton Hospital in Rochester.
Ebinger is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease and clinical cardiac electrophysiology.
At Genesys, he will provide electrophysiology services, including cardiac ablation procedures, ICDs, pacemakers and cardiac resynchronization therapy. In addition, he will be starting a multidisciplinary atrial fibrillation program, which will offer patients advanced medical and surgical options for the treatment of atrial fibrillation.
Ebinger will see patients at his office in the Genesys Regional Medical Center Health Park Campus medical office building.

Electrophysiology is a non-surgical study of the electrical system of the heart. The rhythmic pumping action of the heart is from electrical impulses traveling through the four chambers of the heart. If a disturbance in this electrical system occurs, it can lead to uneven heartbeat rhythm. An electrophysiologist can diagnose these electrical problems and treat them non-surgically.
