McLaren offers free stroke classes

McLaren Regional Medical Center offers a free ongoing stroke education and support series for stroke survivors, those at risk for stroke and their family members from 3:30 to 5 p.m. the first and third Wednesdays of each month at McLaren Neurologic Rehabilitation Institute, G-4466 W. Bristol Rd.
Topics of discussion change each week. They cover understanding stroke, health issues related to stroke, nutrition and healthy eating, exercise and activities of daily living, emotional issues and communication and cognitive issues.
Speakers include physicians, speech language pathologists, physical and occupational therapists, dietitians and social workers. The first half of each series is educational and the second half is devoted to support time for survivors and their family members.
