Genesys offers free infant safety class each month

Genesys offers a safety classes for expectant parents and new parents from 6 to 8 p.m. Jan. 31 in Room 3434 of Genesys Regional Medical Center's Health Park Campus, Grand Blanc Township.
Classes will be offered every month. Future classes are Feb. 27 and March 27.
Call the Genesys Family Birthing Center at (810) 606-5897 to sign up for a class.
The free, two-hour class covers many topics of concern for new parents including SIDS, car seat safety, rib safety changing table safety, safe feeding practices, pet safety, toy safety and safety hazards in the home.
"When parents return home with their newborn, often they realize they have many unanswered questions and concerns," finds Jill Croteau, childbirth educator at Genesys. "We have learned through working with new parents that the best teaching moments may not be in the hospital after their child is born."
"Our goal is to keep the newborn safe from harm and safe from injury after birth," Croteau explains. "We know new parents' time is limited, so we set up the class for two hours on one evening."
