Cell phone pole approved

The Flint Planning Commission Nov. 24 recommended the Flint City Council approve a special regulated use for Metro PCS to build a 120-foot monopole tower at 1227 Garfield Rd.

Agent Krysten Kitzman said that the tower is needed to fill coverage at the Interstate 475 and Davison Road area. She said that the tower will be built on a 10- by 16-square-foot concrete slab in a 2,210 square-foot leased area near the UPI Plastics building. It will have a parking space for maintenance and an access road from Garfield Road to the tower.

Site plans, with complete fencing and a gate, were approved also.
