Erica Woodruff, a new reporter for East Village Magazine, is a Southwestern Academy graduate.

Woodruff, 23, is an UM-Flint English major with a minor concentration in African American studies. She is currently taking a six-month break to take some classes at Mott Community College. She would like to eventually go into publishing.

Woodruff speaks Spanish which she picked up after six years of studying the subject in high school and college.

She has been reading East Village Magazine for a year. It is extremely relevant to her life, she said, because it covers issues that affect local citizens.

In her free time she writes fiction and poetry (when she is angry), and enjoys reading books such as Harry Potter, Twilight and Catcher in the Rye.

She has a younger sister and three rabbits and a cat. She admitted that much of her life revolves around the rabbits and she enjoys being a pet owner.

Gardening is also a recent hobby of Woodruff.
