Whaley Dinner Club Returns with a Summer Soiree
Tickets are available now through June 23 for a “Summer Soiree” to benefit the Whaley Historic House Museum. The Sloan Museum in Flint’s Cultural Center will host the Whaley Dinner Club: Summer Soiree set for June 30 at 6:30 p.m. Doors open at 6 and guests can explore the Sloan before indulging in a seasonally and historically inspired seven-course dinner created by Chef Jason Botz.
Samantha Engel, executive director of the Whaley House Museum, will be at the dinner to discuss restoration from a Nov. 30 fire and future plans for the Victorian-style Flint landmark. All proceeds from the dinner will benefit the Whaley restoration efforts and programming while the house is closed.
Tickets are $75 and seating is limited to 20 guests. Tickets on sale through July 23 can be purchased online at Eventbrite.com or by contacting the director at 471-4714 or director@whaleyhouse.com.
EVM Flint Youth Theatre camps start July 11, performances set
The Flint Youth Theatre Summer 2016 season begins July 11 and includes theatre camps and performances of Stuart Little and The Tempest beginning August 11.
Registration is open now for theatre camps, available for grades 1 through 12. Camps run mornings July 11-22. Students learn acting, design and technical aspects of theatre while developing their own story and performance. Summer musical camps which incorporate song and choreography, also are available for grade 4 through 12.
The deadline for tuition assistance for the summer programs is June 20.
Tickets already are available for Stuart Little and The Tempest, which run from August 11 through August 21. All available performances and more information on the theatre and musical camps can be found on the Flint Youth Theatre website www.thefyt.org.
